About me
I'm Dr. Sofia Michopoulou, and I am the Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics and a Medical Physics Expert at University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). My primary role involves leading the development and implementation of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods in Nuclear Medicine and PET.
In addition to my clinical role, I am a honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton, funded by an NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic Fellowship. My research focuses on the development of imaging and fluid biomarkers and the utilisation of artificial intelligence for dementia diagnosis and prognosis.
I teach medical imaging at both BSc and MSc levels at the University of Southampton and supervise BMedSci, MSc and Phd students. I'm also involved in delivering a portion of the Fellows of Royal College of Radiology physics module. I also support clinical scientists in their training as part of Health Education England's Scientific Training Program.
